LOVE AS A BANNER
Song of Songs 2:4
“He brought me to His banqueting table, and his banner over me is love.”
In my recording, accessible below, I shared about my vision this morning. I saw myself seated at the banqueting table of the Lord partaking of His goodness and then my attention was drawn to the banner over me. It is God’s love, but I also saw the implications of this banner being a protection and a declaration of dedication!
GOD’S BANNER IS A PROTECTION AND A DECLARATION OF DEDICATION
As I looked up the scripture and researched the implications, I realized that during Solomon’s time, wine was used only for ceremonial purposes and was the drink of royalty.
When the Shunamite woman said that the King brought her to his wine chamber she was declaring that He was conferring royalty to her. She was able to drink the wine specifically chosen by King Jesus and as a mere peasant woman this was a great honor, because here she is being loved by the King of the most powerful and grandiose kingdom of all and He is offering her the place on His side. This is what Jesus bestowed upon His Bride. We are kings and priests unto our most High God. (see Revelations 1).
The banqueting table is also translated as His wine chamber. She is invited and not only was she given royalty and the place of sonship, but she is after His love and this is precisely the banner she is under, the banner of His love.
I found out that the word banner in Hebrew is dagal and it is a reference to a military standard or flag. Such a flag would usually carry the name of the king and or the nation. Such a banner depicts to whom you give your allegiance and loyalty to, it declares what or who you are willing to unite with.
POINTING TOWARDS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
This all points to our relationship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and His banner over us is LOVE. Those who are on the side of Jesus Christ and are united in Him are protected and infused by His unrelenting love and are perpetually revived and refreshed by the sweet taste of His pleasant and delicious fruit. All the while, drinking deep from His goblet of wine while sitting in His shadow of pure grace and mercy.
I encourage you to listen to the recording below, because during the recording I was in a Holy Spirit flow and the anointing was releasing much more than what I can write about right now.
