This daily devotional is designed for those who never been on a short term mission trip, as well as
those who have gone many times.  Your preparation for a short term mission represents a huge
opportunity to condition yourself "to be ready in season and out of season".

Preparation for a short term mission includes getting a passport, purchasing a traveler's insurance
and packing the right clothes, and other things.

It also involves three significant things:

1) Prepare your heart and soul.

Before you go, examine your heart. Why do you want to go to another nation?
How intimate and close is your walk with the Lord?
Furthermore, do you have the love of God in your heart for these people?
Have you spent time interceding for this nation?

A team that is prepared in heart and unified will leave an eternal impact.

2.
Prepare your mind

You probably will have many questions about what is going to happen during this mission trip.
How will people react to you?
What are the tools needed?  Are you equipped and trained to do the work of the ministry?
(see Ephesians 4)
It is very important to remain peaceful.  Not to be anxious, but to pray and give all to the Lord, and
the peace that passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
(see Philippians 4:7)

3.
Prepare your body

Prepare by eating right, exercising, get enough sleep and learn about the physical challenges that
may await
Heat? Clean water? Bugs? Exertion required?

Join us for a 21 Day Focus of daily devotion and specific, strategic intercession and fasting.

Daily Devotional
To get the best out of your daily time of devotion, be intentional about setting ample
time apart to praise and worship the Lord, to read His Word, to wait upon Him and to
pray.  Allow Him to show you things to come and to speak to you.

Day 1
Flesh vs. Spirit

Galatians 5:17,22
"For the flesh wars against the spirit, and  the spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to
one another..But the fruit of the Spirit is love......"

It is important to understand, especially before, during and after a mission trip, that you and the
team will be challenged.  This is a great opportunity to exercise self-control, keeping your love on
and to draw even closer to God.  To remain sober, vigilant and to submit to God, and resist the
enemy and he has to flee.

The greatest warfare fought is "internal", especially when you are part of a team ministry.
Various personalities and other's quirks can cause someone to be annoyed and this can result in
much internal striving, which can easily manifest through attitudes!
Run to the Lord and ask Him to give you an outpouring of His love in your heart.  Be aggressive
and fervent in prayer about this and guard your heart.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for this opportunity to die to my flesh daily and to embrace the
assignment You have for me. I humble myself under Your mighty hand and ask you to show me
areas in my heart that needs change and transformation.  I give my body as a living sacrifice, holy
and acceptable unto You and I will wash my mind with the Word of God on a daily basis.  Not to be
conformed to this world system, but to be transformed in the renewing of my mind.  Let there be a
transformation inside of me by the power of the Holy Spirit! (see Romans 12:1-2) Amen.

TODAY, TAKE OUT SOME TIME TO PRAY FOR THE LOGISTICS OF YOUR TRIP:
Pray for the location:
and for the primary type of ministry that will be done by this team

* Travel arrangements to the nation and while in the nation
* Safety of the team
*God's favor and grace
*Team health
*Language barrier/interpreters
*adjustments to the culture and climate

Do you know any faithful people, you can ask to intercede for this trip?

Day 2
AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST

2 Corinthians 5:20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his
appeal through us.

It is such a privilege to be sent out and to be those ambassadors for Christ, who will lead others to
Him.  An ambassador is also a Diplomat. A Diplomat conducts diplomacy - the main functions of
diplomats revolve around the representation and protection of the interests of the sending state,
as well as the promotion of information and friendly relations.

We are in this world, but not of this world, our citizenship is in heaven.  We belong to the Kingdom
of God and we have God's heart  to release to the nations.  His heart is: for no one to perish, but
for all to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, therefore we represent His interest and
conduct ourselves accordingly.

There should be no room in me to try to build my own kingdom, but my endeavor and prayer is that
His kingdom come and His will be done on earth (in the place I go) as it is in heaven.

There is no room for me to bring my own culture and put it on display!

The Bible is filled with sayings reflecting our true identity in Christ Jesus.  Being a "child of God",
the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus", and "more than a conqueror", are only a few.
The key to being a diplomat of Christ is to keep His interests as our priority, to reflect Him, and to
stay focused on Christ and minister in  humility.  Always consider others more important than
yourself, and keep in mind the blood of Jesus,  He shed for the people.
In order to keep offenses at bay,  it is important not to become to "familiar" with the surroundings
and to always remember Who we represent.  Our calling, as an ambassador, is to walk in a
manner worthy of our calling.  Let's reflect His life.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for a greater revelation on what it means to be Your ambassador.  I like to
carry Your message and presence to a sick and dying world.  May you manifest Yourself in our
midst and may we see signs and wonders confirming Your word!  Put a passion into my heart and I
am asking for the refiner's fire to come and burn out everything not fitting.  So that I can run with
your power and mandate for a time such as this.

Day 3
Confirming the Word with Signs and Wonders

Mark 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and
confirming the word with signs following. Amen

You can be confident in the fact, that you have been sent by God and that all you need has
already been provided. You have been sent by a powerful, miracle-working God, who has sent
angels before you to make the crooked way straight!

REJOICE, AND AGAIN I SAY REJOICE!

Prayer:  I rejoice in You, Lord.  I thank you Lord and glorify your precious name.  I believe Lord,
help my unbelief!  If there is any speck of doubt, let it be destroyed in the name of Jesus!  Thank
you for the heavenly hosts working with the team and I pray others, who are fearful, will see in the
Spirit that those, the angelic host, who are with us are greater than those, who are with the enemy!

PROPHECY:  I PROPHECY FOR THE DRY BONES TO COME ALIVE IN THE NATION WE ARE
GOING TO.  PROCLAIM:  LIVE AGAIN AND COME TOGETHER, THE FLESH TO MANIFEST ON
THE BONES, FOR HOPE TO ARISE!  MIGHTY MANIFESTATIONS OF THE MOST HIGH TO BE
SEEN BY ALL.  BREATH OF GOD COME FROM THE FOUR WINDS AND BREATH UPON THEM
..TO COME ALIVE IN HIM!
CRY AS A WATCHMAN ON THE WALL! LORD, RAISE UP AN ARMY IN THIS NATION!

Day 4
Who Went About Doing Good

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went
about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

As He was so are we in this world!  Jesus Christ was anointed by God with the Holy Ghost and
power.  Why?  He was a forerunner in this and just as He needed to be anointed, so are we.
Are you filled with the Holy Spirit and the power of God AND BAPTIZED IN HIS FIRE?
Ephesians 5 tells us to be ever filled with the Holy Spirit!  When we are filled up and yield to the
Holy Spirit, we can go and do good, healing all that are oppressed of the devil, knowing God is with
us just as He was with Jesus.

It is a delight to go on mission trips and see the power of God released through vessels filled up
and ready to release exactly what the Lord has given them.
The first time I saw a tumor disappear on a lady's back while laying hands on her and praying in
Kenya, my heart was burning with GOD'S PASSION and I felt a joy unspeakable and full of glory!

Prepare yourself by reading scriptures about people getting healed and delivered in the New
Testament.

Prayer:  Lord, fill me up to overflowing!
Isaiah 58:6 Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose, the bonds of wickedness, To undo the
heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?

Ask Him for signs and wonders to follow your outreach, and for a fruitful ministry! Ask Him to
prepare your heart for what is to come.

Day 5
Exercise your spiritual senses...
Hebrews 5:15
But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use
have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

As mature believers we have exercised our senses to discern between good and evil.  God has
given us 5 natural senses: hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling, feeling
But we must be anointed with spiritual vision.
"Lord, I want to see as You see, open my spiritual eyes  and senses."
